Bioactivity: Dihydrorhodamine 123 is commonly used to detect intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS). Inside cells, it is oxidized by ROS into fluorescent Rhodamine 123; thus, changes in fluorescence intensity reflect intracellular ROS levels.
