Bioactivity: Rhodamine 123 is the most commonly used mitochondrial stain. It is employed to stain a variety of cells, including plant cells and bacteria. It is suitable for detecting mitochondrial membrane potential in live cells and studying apoptosis. Rhodamine 123 can also be used to detect cancer cells due to its selective accumulation in them, with its fluorescence closely associated with changes in mitochondrial distribution. Ex/Em (nm) = 507/529. References: 1.
