Bioactivity: TMRE Perchlorate is a membrane-permeant cationic fluorescent probe that specifically targets mitochondrial membrane potential and accumulates in mitochondria to produce bright fluorescence. At appropriate concentrations, rhodamine-based dyes exhibit low cytotoxicity and are widely used to label mitochondria in animal, plant, and microbial cells. Positively charged rhodamine dyes (e.g., rhodamine esters and rosamines) selectively localize to mitochondria and are extensively used for labeling live-cell mitochondria. Ex/Em (nm) = 550/576.
